146 Walker Street was built in 1924 by The Investment Company of the South.  The original owner held the property until 1933 when the City of Atlanta acquired the building through a tax lien.  After a string of various owners, the building housed the House of Cheatham Chemical Company from 1976 to 1988.  At the time the company produced the “Polly Peachtree” line of beauty products.

In 1988 the building was converted to mixed-use and the owner transformed the dramatic space into a studio for his commercial photography.  The current owner purchased the property in December 2001 and has used it as a live-work space for her fashion company.  Although the loft had been previously renovated, the current owner has added many extensive upgrades of her own, including a new elevator, rooftop deck and hot tub, updated systems, windows and doors, extra bathrooms and downstairs bar area—complete with dance floor!
